Purdue University and Indiana University teamed up during the fall of 2003 to teach a class called “Introduction to Virtual Environments”, taught jointly by Laura Arns, Ph.D. (Envision Center, ITaP,  and Computer Graphics Technology Department, School of Technology, Purdue University) and Eric Wernert, Ph.D. (UITS Advanced Visualization Lab and IU School of Informatics, Indiana University).

This class taught students to program the advanced visualization environments available at each university, resulting in an excellent learning experience for all students. This collaborative teaching effort also achieved economices of scale for the two universities, as each had been teaching similar classes – independently – prior to this class.

The photos shown below show teleconference rooms in use in Bloomington and West Lafayette, Indiana, while the class is being taught.
